HOLIDAYS!!!!!!!!

These holidays are going to be great because my Mum's Family from Ireland/France are going to be coming to New Zealand for 3 weeks!!! It will be the first time my little cousins Magnus and Lochlann will have come here. Magnus is five and Lochlann is three. Auntie Sinead, Uncle Will, Grandpa Sean, Uncle Garret and Auntie Aisling (MY NAME!) will also be coming. they are going to stay for Christmas and New Year.

For Christmas Eve we are going to have dinner at my Auntie Mag's house. Then on Christmas Day my family opens the presents at my house, we get our presents in a pillow case. Then we open our presents from each other and have a Christmas breakfast of pancakes or muffins (usually with a cup of tea as well).

For New Year every year we go out to the Wairarapa Coast to my Dad's cousin's farm. We go swimming in the river by the farm and make hutts in the bush. And on New Years Eve we have a big dinner and then eat chocolate until the clock strikes midnight. Then afterwards we go tumbling into bed with full tummies.

But for the rest of the holidays, I'll be in MAHIA!!!! I'm SO exited. Mahia is a peninsula near Gisborne where we go to be with my Dad's family. my dad has six other siblings so there are usually a whole lot of cousins around. there are many different beaches around the peninsula that all have very different treasures on them. Mahia is my favourite part of the holidays over all. 
 

How I am feeling about year 8

I am really excited for next year because of all the responsibilities you get such as house captain and catholic character. I am look forward to beating the year 6's (when they're year 7's) in dodgeball and being able to sit on chairs in assembly. But I am worried about it being my last year at St Benedict's. I am hoping to be Murphy's house captain next year as well. I am looking forward to next year and I think its going to be great.

Dino Day!

Yesterday it was Dino Day. Since our topic is dinosaurs we had this day because the athletes went to Inter-Zones Athletics. Since Mr McGurk was going we had rm 8 with us.We watched a cheesy video of a guy who went ''back in time'' to see ''dinosaurs'' in their habitats. It was really funny because his camp got wrecked by a ''dinosaur'' and he held a fake tooth and said that he was really scared. I had brought in toy dinosaurs so we could make videos with helpful information about dinosaurs. I was in a group with Samantha, Maricar, Aimee and Ashling. Samantha and Maricar made the set which was a milk cardboard box, Aimee was the camera man, Ashling was the dino controller and I was the narrator/presentor. Our one was called Teh Epik Dinosaurs. BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! Fireworks on Guy Fawkes Day is a GREAT idea. They are explosion that uses gunpowder, the same ingredient Guy used when he failed to blow up the House of Parliament. I think this is a suitable time to set off fireworks because it's good to celebrate a bit of English History. It is always exciting going down to the water front or looking off a balcony at the amazing display of colourful explosions. Guy Fawkes Day is the perfect day and is good to be celebrating a failure.

My Future Job

In the future I would like to be a marine-biologist. I have always loved dolphins, piranhas and whales, but the shark is my absolute favourite. In college the subjects I will take are Biology, Maths, Chemistry, and Computer. At home I should watch informative documentaries on marine mammals and fish and go fishing and study the fish I catch. I should also read books and ask my parents if I could meet a marine-biologist and ask them some questions about how they became to be a marine-biologist. The main reason why I want to be a marine-biologist is because I am really interested about the sea and its animals and plants and just want to learn a lot more about them.

Art Week

During the last two weeks we have been doing ALOT of art. So far I have done jungle plants for the corridor, a 3D animal to go in the jungle, a close up of a part of Henri Rousseau's Hungry Lion painting, a copy of the Dream painting and a Paper Mache tiger. My favourite one was the close up. I did a close up of the jaguars' eye that was in the tree. We used acrylic paint and we did smooth brush strokes. What else do you think I could of done?

My Current Obsession

What I am really interested in right now is my new pet lamb Sean. He is only 5 weeks old and drinking 3 400mls bottles of milk a day. He is really cute and he has his own collar now and a soft place to sleep in. He lives in our chicken run with our seven free-range chickens Oprah, Girly, Big Mama, Little Mama, Peach Fuzz, Samosa and Sooty. I really like to go down and see him every day and give him a bottle. He is great company and he is never too busy for a play on the lawn. I really wish we could keep him forever but we are only looking after him for someone because his mother died, and after another 1 or 2 months he will go back to the farm to be used for wool. Can you guess where he sleeps? 

(Clue: He doesn't  like to sleep alone.)

Medieval Times Minecraft

On Minecraft Rm 12 built a medieval village. We all had different building we had to build and I built the Granary. The Granary was used by serfs to store grain, wheat and crops. Sometimes the wheat would be taken down to the watermill to be pressed and turned into flour. On Minecraft I used sandstone, spruce wood, oak stairs, oak planks and jungle wood slab. It is a 6 by 15 building and has lofts with chests on them filled with wheat, sugar cane and different types of seeds.

Statistics Test

At the beginning of the term we did a statistics test. I got 74% correct. We worked on stats for four weeks until we did the same test again in week 7. This time I got 98% correct. I improved mostly in the mean median, mode and range because I got them all correct, but I had improved so much on pie graphs. I still need to work on them though. We were given lots of sheets to do with angles so we could get the pie graphs right, and things to do with collecting data and putting it into a column or bar graph. I was really happy because I had done so well in the test, and i am trying to keep that knowledge for next year.

my favourite subjects are art and writing. i do netball
and swimming but i would like to do soccer.
